Canoeing tour on Tisza!

We want to exceed the overwhelming success of last year's tour (which can be owed to the incredibly cool participants) so this time that is why we choose the colourful Tisza and Tisza Lake as the site of the adventure!

Last year there were 71 of us from 23 countries!

We have planned this tour to be really relaxing and fun for you. The focus is not on the physical performance but on spending time together with old CouchSurfer friends and getting new ones, getting to know each other and simply enjoying what the river can offer to us.

We will spend the first night in Tokaj! This is the centre of the world-famous WINE REGION where we will visit some nice wine-cellars!

Several long sandy banks can be found on this section of Tisza that offer excellent scene for the breaks and lunch during the day. The river is nice and calm, there are no turbulences or rapids and it provides safe environment for everyone. However, it is quick enough to carry us and save time and energy, leaving enough to play the "the war of numbers" and other games and surprises.

The daily distance is not exhausting at all, so we can make fire, drink some wine and talk in the evening. The scene is one of the last remaining backcountries in Hungary with dense jungle-like forest on both shores, hosting many birds, dears and other wild animals. We take delicious food, enjoy the beautiful scenery, easy life and the good, funny company we are in. It is a great way to relax for every one of us.

Sunbathing during the day, then making fire, drinking some wine and talking in the evenings. The Killer Game and Water Splashing goes on!

There are two specialities of this tour:

• We visit the Lake of water lillies.
• During the last days we will canoe on the unique Tisza Lake (127 sqrkm), home of thousands of birds (200 different species). It isn't just a lake: there are many waterways in the bush, islands and different river branches.

The price does not include the train tickets, which is an expected 6900 HUF per person. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you can coose if you would liike us to "feed" you, or want to do it by yourself. Int he second case the price is 7000 HUF / 26 EUR lower.

Travelling to the start happens individually or with the group. Don't hesitate to join us in Budapest as there will be some of us travelling to the site by train anyway - this is the most convenient way. Please let us know about it on the application form so that we can purchase your tickets in advance if you wish. We are leaving at around 9 AM from one of the main railway stations of Budapest.

For participation you need to show up a certification that proves you can swim, signed by a professional swimmer, in case you are under the age of 18. No preliminary training is needed.

Application: send an on-line application form and transfer 10.000 HUF or 38 EUR.
